Equity School Travel – What we already do to be green!
- Our offices are located in the centre of Brighton and nearly every single member of our staff either walk, cycle or take public transportation to work.
- We actively recycle all our paper waste, ink cartridges & plastics throughout the office. We have also stopped using plastic cups for our hot drinks.
- Our office space is lit by “smart sensor lights” which save energy.
- Our brochures are available to download online, saving paper & energy.
- We pride ourselves in communicating mainly electronically unless requested by the client.
- Paper used on our brochures and promotional material is FSC approved.
We are committed to continue to minimise the impact of our activities on the environment and to comply with all relevant environmental legislation.
The key points of our strategy are to:
- Promote awareness of environmental responsibilities among employees with relevant information.
- Establish a dedicated Green Team, to raise awareness across the business, develop sustainable initiatives and ensure continuity in our green policies.
- Actively promote recycling both internally and amongst its customers and suppliers.
- Actively reduce by paper by utilising online communication.
- Meet or exceed all the environmental legislation that relates to the Company.
Can you help be a greener tourist?
- All students are encouraged to be more economic with water when bathing and showering when away and to request clean towels only when fresh ones are really needed.
- Take advantage of the walking and bus tours your destination has to offer, instead of driving everywhere.
- Ensure your lights and TV (where applicable) are all switched off in your hotel room and not left on standby.
- Recycle where possible just as you would at home.
- Buy local products/souvenirs to support the local economy and avoid CO2 emissions caused by transportation.
- Eat local - supporting local farmers and small businesses.
- Some gifts and foods available in certain countries can be made from endangered plants or animals. Endangered species include: plants such as orchids, cacti and mahogany and ramin trees animals such as elephants, rhinos, whales, turtles, coral and many reptiles. You should only buy a wildlife souvenir if you are sure it does not come from an endangered species.
- Take a refillable water bottle with you
