Cookery demonstrations
Our Chef explains the ingredients, demonstrates the method, and presents and serves the dish with advice about the right accompaniment. Demonstrations are informal, friendly and students are encouraged to take part in the preparation of the dishes. Each session includes details of the recipe and a tasting.
Course books
In our course books we give extensive notes on regional cookery and specialities, plus notes on local produce such as cheeses and wines. A glossary of culinary terms and a list of useful vocabulary in French, Italian or Spanish is also included with notes on cooking and eating traditions in the different countries. Finally a number of mouth-watering recipes are included.
Spanish Languauge
The value of these courses is not just in the food technology field. The foreign
language element in both the cookery demonstrations (although we do provide an interpreter) and the programme of food
related visits is extremely beneficial to all students learning Spanish.
Accommodation in Spain
Groups can stay in the 3 star Hotel Park or Novo Park.
Food for Thought Study Course in Spain
In Spain we offer Tossa de Mar in the Costa Brava for our Food for thought course. The cookery demonstrations take place at the 4 star Hotel Villa de Tossa and will be performed by the hotel's highly-qualified chef. The course includes 3 cookery demonstrations: starters, including Spanish omelette and Mediterranean salads, how Paella is made, and desserts, including Catalan cream and Torrijas. The demonstrations last approximately one hour. You will be able to taste the final product.
During the tour your group will visit a biscuit factory, chocolate factory and the cellars producing the world famous cava, Freixenet. You will have a day in Barcelona, including a visit to La Boqueria food market, and the opportunity to sample some traditional Spanish tapas in a local bodega.
Sample Itinerary - SPAIN
Day 1
Depart School for Dover and travel overnight in your executive coach.
Day 2
Arrive at your resort in the early afternoon. Welcome meeting with your representative and free time to explore the resort. Your first inclusive meal is your evening meal. Travelling time Calais to resort - 18 hours approximately.
Days 3-6
We will arrange a programme for you, with three cookery demonstrations and the included visits. Additional visits and activities can be arranged subject to drivers' hours regulations. Full details of what is available are given in our Equity Travel Guides.
Days 7
Free morning followed by lunch. Depart in the afternoon for the overnight journey by coach taking a packed evening meal.
Days 8
Morning channel crossing and return to School.
Day 1
Fly from London to Barcelona/Girona for Spain (flight time 2 hours). Transfer to your hotel for evening meal (first meal). Transfer time 1-2 hours.
Day 2-5
We will arrange a programme for you having three cookery demonstrations and the included visits. Additional visits and activities can be arranged if time permits.
Day 6
Transfer from your hotel to the airport for your return flight to London. Last meal packed lunch.
Extra Day
Make the most of your stay by adding an extra day. Price available on request. Extra day prices do not include any demonstrations, activities or visits but these can be booked for you at a supplement.
We recommend a full day is spent in Barcelona and visits can also be made to Montserrat or to Girona and Figueres.

Programme of Visits
Visits are a key part of the course. The sights, sounds, and smells of the bakery, market, chocolate factory and cheese farm
bring cookery vividly to life. Pupils see the traditional methods of food production. Factory production is also covered in some areas.
