Lille France
With a fast motorway link to Calais or just 2 hours by Eurostar from London, Lille is a great centre for your tour to France. A vibrant Flemish city of art and culture, with a rich architectural heritage, it is ideally placed for your tour of the World War I battlefields in the Somme and around Ypres.
There is a wealth of cultural and scientific museums and art galleries, both in the city and in the surrounding towns and villages. Visit the old town and enjoy the street festivals and picturesque markets.Groups may be interested to know that many visits in Opal Coast and Parc d'Olhain can also be undertaken from Lille.
Sample Itinerary - FRANCE
Day 1
Depart school by coach for late morning Dover-Calais ferry crossing. Continue to your hotel for evening meal (first meal). Travelling time Calais to resort: 1-2 hours approx.
Days 2-3
We will arrange a programme of visits for you with free use of coach subject to driver's hours regulations.
Day 4
Travel to Calais with packed lunches for return journey. Optional stop at Hypermarket time permitting.
Day 1
Join the Eurostar at either St Pancras or Ebbsfleet and travel direct to Lille (1 hour from Ebbsfleet, 2 hours from London). Walk to your hotel. Day 2
Full day in Lille for sightseeing.
Days 3
After breakfast walk to the terminal for your return train journey to the U.K.
