Food for Thought School & College Tours to the Loire Valley

Visit the world famous Loire Valley, wine capital of France and discover a world of vineyards, Chateaux and mushrooms! Groups will visit some of the region’s many chateaux and explore the technology applied to the modern vineyard and also learn how wine was traditionally grown. Students will also get an insight into the world of mushrooms in the Montsoreau mushroom caves and by visiting the mushroom museum in Saumur. The Loire Valley’s exceptional educational value for Food Technology students makes it an ideal study trip destination.

Food for Thought Visits

  • Wine cellars and museum (Saumur) - Enjoy a tour of a local wine cellar in the Saumur region.
  • Montsoreau mushroom caves - Visit and learn all about the production of mushrooms in the amazing excursion.
  • Mushroom museum - Students will get an insight into the techniques employed in growing mushroom as well as seeing most of the different varieties actually being grown- both wild and cultivated types.
  • Cointreau Museum (Angers) - Visit the Cointreau Museum to learn all about  the history and production of this fine orange based liqueur.
  • Chocolaterie (Amboise) - Visit this local chocolatier to learn about its history and the production techniques.
  • Cheese factory (Verneuil sur Indre) - Visit this cheese factory and see how cheese is made.
