Art & Design School & College Tours to Provence
This southern region of outstanding beauty has been incredibly inspirational to notable artists such as Van Gogh, Picasso and Matisse who made Provence’s diverse landscape their main subject. Students will also be able to get a first hand experience of Cezanne’s famous St Victoire Mountain and put their inspiration to canvas with their own interpretation.
Art & Design Excursions
- Van Gogh Foundation, Arles - Step into Van Gogh's most famous painting, Vincent's bedroom has been identically reconstructed.
- Atelier Paul Cézanne, Aix - This museum recreates the artist's house and studio. You almost feel that Cézanne has just stepped out of the door.
- Arlaten Museum, Arles - A folklore museum, displaying furniture, dolls and regional costumes.
Curriculum Focus
- Experience opportunities to compare and contrast a range of artistic works in a number of galleries and museums in the city
- Provides ample opportunity to acquire general knowledge of historical, social and cultural contexts for paintings, sculpture and architecture
- Develop an understanding of the relationships between society and art within historical and other frameworks
- Learn some of the city’s history and culture that have provided the context for many of the artistic works
