History School & College Tours to Rhineland

The Rhineland is an area of great historical interest with many castles, including the 11th century Marksburg Castle and the Rheinfels, the largest castle in the Rhein region.  In Trier, Germany’s oldest city groups will also be able to visit a Roman Bath and amphitheatre portraying the richness of ancient Trier.  With such great educational visits in such an incredible setting, the Rhineland is a great destination for history school groups.

History Excursions

  • Marksburg - The Marksburg Castle is the only surviving 11th Century castle on the Rhine.
  • Stolzenfels - The medieval castle was restored from 13th Century ruins to a richly decorated summer residence for King Wilhelm IV.
  • Ehrenbreitstein - Located 118m above the Rhine, it is one of the oldest fortresses in Germany and home to the Museum of Rhine History. 
  • Rheinfels - The largest castle in the Rhine area, located above St. Goar. The medieval ruins provide an impressive glimpse into the castle's defensive structures. 
  • Trier Roman Bath and Amphitheatre - The UNESCO World heritage sites portray the richness and wealth of ancient Trier.
  • Burg Eltz Castle - The von Eltz family castle, dating from the 16th century is a fantastic example of a perfectly preserved castled, giving you the opportunity to discover its history throughout the times.
