Art & Design School & College Tours to Rome
Rome is a lively and cosmopolitan city filled with life, history and fabulous museums, galleries and striking architecture. Students will be able to examine the aqueducts of Rome, Baths of Diodetian and Caracalla and the most famous Colosseum.
Art & Design Excursions
- Museo Galleria Borghese - The museum is home to major works by Raphael, Rubens,Titian, Caravaggio, Bernini to name but a few.
- Modern National Gallery - The gallery houses the most important Italian collection of paintings and sculptures of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries including Goya, Delacroix, Renoir, Van Gogh and Degas.
- Gallery of the National Academy of St Luca - Home to works by artists such as Raphael, Canova, van Dyck and Titian.
- Trevi Fountain - Built by Salvi in 1735 it is the most richly decorated of Rome's fountains.
- Spanish Steps - The Baroque steps from Piazza Spagna to Trinita dei Monti. At the bottom is the house where Keats died.
- Piazza Navona - A lively square containing Bernini's Baroque 'Fountain of the Four Rivers'.
- Piazza Venezia & the Monument to Victor Emmanuel II - A memorial to the first King of united Italy. Great views from the top.
Curriculum Focus
- Opportunities to compare and contrast a range of artistic works in a number of galleries and museums in the city
- Provides ample opportunity to acquire general knowledge of historical, social and cultural contexts for paintings, sculpture and architecture
- Develop an understanding of the relationships between society and art within historical and other frameworks
- Learn some of the city’s history and culture that have provided the context for much of the artistic works
