History School & College Tours to Rome

Rome offers endless educational opportunities for school groups. Its streets are filled with historic artefacts giving students a unique perspective of life during the Roman Empire. Rome has one of the world's most incredible collection of classical vestiges, which are visible throughout the city and include the Roman Forum and the Colosseum.  Students will also witness the city's importance throughout history, especially during the Renaissance.

History Excursions

  • Castel Sant'Angelo - Built in AD 135 as the Mausoleum for Emperor Hadrian and his family its passageways link the fortress to the Vatican Palaces.
  • Roman Forum - Visit the Forum where you can see 12 centuries of Roman history. It was the centre of commerce, politics and religion.
  • Palatine Hill - Site of the original Roman settlement. Emperor Augustus lived here in the Imperial Palace. You can also see the 16th Century Farnase Gardens.
  • Colosseum - Commissioned by Emperor Vespasian in AD 72. The size of the structure and the cruelty of the games made it Rome's greatest building.
  • Pantheon - Originally built as a temple and later converted to a church. Renaissance architects used it for inspiration.
  • Vatican - A 'city state within the city'.  Crowned by St Peter's and containing the Sistine Chapel. The Vatican has it's own flag, stamps, mint and judiciary.
  • Spanish Steps - The Baroque steps from Piazza Spagna to Trinita dei Monti.  At the bottom of the steps is the house where Keats died.
