School Trips to Opal Coast
For a real taste of the real France, why not take one of our school trips to the Opal Coast?
Study Flemish architecture and gothic cathedrals, experience fantastic water parks or take in the myriad historic sites and monuments while increasing your understanding of the French language. For the naturalists among your group, a trip to Nausicaa is guaranteed to thrill, while paying a visit to one of the local mini zoos will give an insight to new species. To tantalise the taste buds of your students, take them to the local boulangerie, chocolaterie or snail farm. Let them see how the cheese making industry works with a trip to a working cheese farm.
No trip to the Opal Coast is complete without paying respects to the fallen of WWI. While the Bay of Somme is a charming destination, its sobering history cannot be forgotten, so visiting the Somme Battlefields is a must for any history student.
Within such easy reach of the U.K., it’s no wonder that the Opal Coast is such an attractive prospect for British school groups.

Bagatelle Theme Park
Ride on a roller coaster, discover a gold mine, take to the race-track then cool off on the water-rides. This exciting theme park set in attractive wooded countryside has a French twist and is a popular excursion for our school groups.
Pegasus Bridge Museum
Follow the heroic story of the flight to Normandy and the capture of this vital location. Walk across the original bridge and peek into the astonishing gliders; this visit presents a relatively easy to understand and important event of WWII history.
Nausicaa Sea Life Centre
Meet the sea lions, clownfish and sharks, feel the rough texture of a ray's back and watch penguins gulping down their dinner. Europe’s largest aquarium is a fantastic resource to develop an understanding of marine ecology and conservation issues.
Enter the tiny world of the snail. Watch their antennae see, taste and explore. Investigate the molluscs’ adaptations and life cycle, from egg-hatching in the spring to winter hibernation. Appreciate the importance of snail production for French cuisine.
Children will love discovering the chemistry of chocolate! Watch it heated, stirred, moulded and decorated into a fabulous display of novelty shapes. Contrast the dark rich chocolate of at least 70% cocoa with our familiar UK chocolate.
A huge bunker built as a launch pad for Hitler's planned V2 rocket attack on London. Primary groups can explore the technology of warfare, find out what life was like under German occupation and discover how children adapted to wartime life.
Visit a local Bakery
Discover the science that goes into bread-making. Watch the traditional making and baking of baguettes, brioches and pastries. Practise simple French language skills ordering pains au chocolat or fresh croissants to take away.
