Madrid is a cosmopolitan city characterised by a vibrant, cultural lifestyle and artistic activity with a modern backdrop. The Spanish capital is home to one of the world’s best art collections in the Prado Museum and in the Centro de Arte Reina Sofia. Walk through Madrid’s streets to see the great architectural heritage such as the arcaded square of the Plaza Mayor. The city’s historical architecture contrasts perfectly with Madrid’s outstanding collection of modern architecture enhancing the students’ understanding of architecture, art and design.

Art & Design Excursions

  • Museo del Prado - One of Europe's best galleries, highlighting artists such as Velázquez, Goya and El Greco.
  • Museo Thyssen-Bornemisza - Many artists and schools are represented here, from the 13th - 20th century.
  • Centro de Arte Reino Sofia - This collection of mainly Spanish artists such as Miró, Tapies, and González. Picasso's famous Guernica is exhibited here.
  • Museo de Cera - Madrid's answer to Madame Tussaud's.
