Art & Design students are in for a real treat when going on a study trip to the American Golden West.  San Francisco is one of the most exciting cultural cities in the world with a vibrant art scene waiting to be discovered by your pupils.  From the San Francisco Art Exchange to the Fine Arts Museum, groups won’t be short of educational visits.  Our tour also features visits to the world’s biggest sites such as the Grand Canyon and Yosemite National Park and the incredible cities of Los Angeles and Las Vegas.  These education filled excursions will be highly inspiring for art students on a study trip of a lifetime!

Art & Design Language Excursions

  • San Francisco Art Exchange- Explore the fusion of art mediums in this fantastic venue.
  • De Young - Located in Golden Gate Park, the de Young is San Francisco's oldest museum. Its collections include American paintings, decorative arts and crafts; arts from Africa, Oceania, and the Americas; and western and non-western textiles
Curriculum Focus
  • Opportunities to compare and contrast a range of artistic works in a number of galleries and museums in the city
  • Provides ample opportunity to acquire general knowledge of historical, social and cultural contexts for paintings, sculpture and architecture
  • Develop an understanding of the relationships between society and art within historical and other frameworks
  • Learn some of the city’s history and culture that have provided the context for much of the artistic works
Student Outcomes
  • Be able to see artistic works at close hand, often in their native environment
  • Be able to compare and contrast different artistic styles and techniques
  • Understand the historical and cultural context in which the artistic works were created
