Geography School & College Tours to the Golden West

The American west is steeped in Geographic contrasts from Zion National Park’s stunning sandstone cliffs to Yosemite’s granite cliffs, waterfalls and giant sequoia groves.  In the Death Valley, students will study the unique desert landscape with streaming sand dunes, multicoloured rock layers and snow capped mountains.  Groups will then be absolutely awe struck by the immensity and mysteriousness of the Grand Canyon.  This one-mile deep abyss lies in the south-western Colorado Plateau and has many gorges, buttes, ravines and peaks with mainly a red colour whereas the stratum has a gray, green and pink hue.   Equity’s dedicated Geography tour to the US Golden West will inspire your students with a study trip of a life time.

Geography Excursions

  • Grand Canyon- One of the biggest wonders in the world, the Grand Canyon is a majestic gorge in the Colorado River.
  • Death Valley - A superlative desert of streaming sand dunes, snow-capped mountains, multicolored rock layers, water-fluted canyons and 3 million acres of wilderness
  • Yosemite National Park - Yosemite National Park, one of the first wilderness parks in the United States, is best known for its waterfalls, but within its nearly 1,200 square miles, you can find deep valleys, grand meadows, ancient giant sequoias, a vast wilderness area, and much more.
  • Zion National Park - Zion's unique geographic location and variety of life zones combine to create a variety of habitats for a surprising array of plant and animal species. Located on the Colorado Plateau, but bordering the Great Basin and Mojave Desert Provinces, Zion is home to plants from each region
  • Bryce National Park - Bryce Canyon National Park is named for one of a series of horseshoe-shaped amphitheaters carved from the eastern edge of the Paunsaugunt Plateau in southern Utah. Erosion has shaped colorful Claron limestones, sandstones and mudstones into thousands of spires, fins, pinnacles and mazes. Collectively called "hoodoos," these unique formations are whimsically arranged and tinted with colors too numerous and subtle to name.
  • Glen Canyon- Glen Canyon is a canyon that is located in southeastern and south central Utah and northwestern Arizona within the Vermilion Cliffs area. It was carved by the Colorado River.
