The itinerary is based on the tour route followed by the flagship First World War Centenary Battlefield Tours Programme, which Equity is running for the government in conjunction with the Institute of Education.

  • The coach will pick you up from your school.

  • Cross the channel and arrive at your accommodation late afternoon. Take your evening meal at the accommodation before visiting Menin Gate where your school will take part in the Ceremony of the Last Post and lay a wreath of remembrance.
Day Two...

  • Have breakfast and travel to the Somme, optional visits this morning include Thiepval Memorial and visitor centre and Sheffield Memorial Park, the site of the British Front Line for 1st July 1916.
PM
  • Options this afternoon include Newfoundland Memorial Park, which gives a fascinating insight into the network of trenches on the front line and Ulster Tower memorial; a copy of Helen’s Tower in County Down.
Day Three...

  • Check out of your hotel and visit In Flanders Field Museum for an interactive insight into the war. Other optional sights include Lijssenthoek Cemetery, where over 10,000 soldiers were buried after dying while being treated at the medical facilities on the site and Tyne Cot, the largest Commonwealth cemetery in the world.

    • Cross the channel and return to your school.

This offer is based on a 2 night/3 day tour, for a total party size of 45, and is comprised of 3 free student places and 5 free supervisory places. Per person price applies to 37 paying passengers. The offer is valid for new Western Front set itinerary tour bookings only for Monday-Thursday term time departure dates in calendar year 2015, excluding travel between 20 May and 31 July 2015 inclusive. The offer is based on student multi bedded accommodation, with teachers accommodation based on two twins and one single and includes travel insurance. Crossing is via Eurotunnel and accommodation is based on full board, staying at either Flanders Lodge in Ypres or The Old Abbey in Lo-Reninge. The lead-in price is based on schools located in the Home Counties utilising one coach driver. A one-off additional driver supplement of £320 applies for schools located further afield.
