Steps on Broadway offers dance classes from beginner to advanced levels in a variety of styles taught by a faculty of world-class practitioners. Alternatively, gain an insight into the work and styles of Martha Graham and Alvin Ailey, two of the most influential dancers and choreographers of the 20th Century. Drama students can experience Broadway-themed sessions held in theatrical rehearsal studios in the Times Square area, or train in "The Method" at the internationally-renowned Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute. We aim to generate positive learning outcomes through challenging the performer's process and you will see a constructive improvements in your dance and drama students after this school trip to New York.

The West Side YMCA Hostel is located just off Central Park West, close to the Lincoln Centre, Broadway and Carnegie Hall.

A hotel situated in central Manhattan on 31st street, this hotel offers grand décor and welcoming reception. Located just a short walk from the Empire State building the Woltcott Hotel provides all the main amenities along with a shop and small meeting room.
Location: Short distance from public transport stops, Empire State Building 3 blocks away, numerous landmarks within easy reach.
Facilities: Small gym, small conference room, newsagents, luggage room, free Wi-Fi.
Accommodation: Single and double available for staff, students are accommodated mainly in triple rooms with individual beds. All rooms en-suite and have a TV.

Subject Specific Excursions
Martha Graham Centre
The Martha Graham School of Contemporary Dance has the distinction of being the longest continuously operating school of dance in America, primarily focused upon teaching the Martha Graham Technique and Repertory. Private group masterclasses are taught by faculty members.
Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater
Alvin Ailey's vision was to bring African-American cultural expression and the American modern dance tradition to the world. There are many options for groups visiting the Ailey Studios including private classes, participation in regular open classes, class observations and guided tours of the striking complex.
Steps On Broadway
An international, world-class studio, Steps on Broadway offers dance classes from beginning to advanced levels in a variety of styles. The centre boasts 10 fully-mirrored and sprung-floor studios with large windows offering an abundance of natural light. There are male and female changing facilities, a café and a dancewear shop.
Lee Strasberg Method Workshop
The workshops are designed to introduce the individual to Lee Strasberg’s systematic acting technique known throughout the world as the Method. The two hour workshop exposes the class to Lee Strasberg’s relaxation technique and moves through a sequence of sensory exercises.
Harlem Jazz or Gospel Workshop & Tour
Take a jazz workshop, led by the saxophonist and saxophone designer from the movie “Friends with Benefits” featuring Justin Timberlake. Learn jazz theory with a basic understanding of chord changes and harmonies. Alternatively, learn to sing gospel, focussing on breathing, harmony, and control and voice placement. All visits include an historial walking tour of Harlem.
Take a guided tour of New York’s performing arts centre, learning about its iconic status and going backstage at theatres where a spectacular range of artists have performed, including Luciano Pavarotti, Mikhail Baryshnikov, Leonard Bernstein, Renée Fleming and Bruce Springsteen.
The New York TV & Movie Sites guided tour will lead you to more than 40 of NYC's famous filming locations seen on TV and in the movies! See where the cast of Glee performed "I Love New York" and visit the apartment building from Friends.
Broadway Classrooms Workshop
Take a class with an expert practitioner in one of the very studios where Broadway shows hold their rehearsals! There are a wide range of themes to choose from and most classes will feature a Q&A from a cast member of the show you will be seeing.
