Lille

MFL School Trips to Lille

Overview

Price from
£155
Based on 1 night tour for
40 students and 4 staff

Accessible by Eurostar, Lille is an easy trip from the UK, offering superb opportunities for practicing essential language skills and applying understanding in a variety of everyday settings. Recognised for its superb shopping opportunities and exquisite gastronomy, Lille is a magnet for domestic and international tourists alike.

Retail, arts and gastronomy have helped put Northern France’s largest city on the map. With its chic boutiques and animated street-life, the Old Town is a major draw, whilst the futuristic Euralillle Centre showcases cutting-edge business and modern retail. Lille is rich in gothic architecture and is home to one of the most notable art museums in France, the Palais des Beaux Arts. Flemish influences are notable in Lille’s architecture and cuisine, giving an important insight into the diversity of French society.

Your group can consolidate their shopping skills and handle money with confidence as they peruse the boutiques at Euralillle. Visit the Christmas Markets to test the students terminology in the seasonal markets, or plan a trip in September to develop your students bargaining skills at the Braderie de Lille flea-market. Students can interact with the city’s local residents and fine tune their listening skills as they adjust to their Flemish accents. Students should be able to expand their vocabulary base as they identify horticulture in the Garden of Giants and enhance their linguistic abilities by asking questions about the city’s historical residents.
