Built in 1406-1420 there are 980 buildings that cover this enormous area. You will see traditional Chinese palatial architecture and the largest collection of ancient wooden structures in the world.
Yu Garden in Shanghai *(Itinerary specific)
Meaning 'garden of happiness/peace', built during the Ming Dynasty this is a beautiful and enormous garden which has a fascinating history.
Tiananmen Square
The third largest city square in the world at 109 acres, this is in the centre of Beijing and was designed and built in 1651 and has since been enlarged four times.

This Buddhist Temple hosts two jade statues imported from Burma along with other cultural relics. It's a peaceful refuge and you can quite often see or hear monks conducting ceremonies.

Old Walled Town of Suzhou
